Tarot — Kjrsten Kay

For the look of High Priestess, I went with rich jewel tones. Saphire shot taffeta and ruby satin, all accented with beautiful polished gold. The dress is embellished with a diagram of the moon, done in a hand-painted gold foil technique. Her crown is adorned with garnets and the constellations of the zodiac.

Temperance is most often depicted with a winged angel or a bird in flight. I took this idea and translated it to an translucent, dove grey gown that floats off the body and into the sky itself, taking the human form with it.

The world was inspired by the time of night when the last glimpses of light finally fade into black, when the stars are just barely visible on the horizon.

The lovers costumes are reimagined from my Cupid & Psyche collection. The bodice from Psyche’s tutu was paired with the skirt from the nymph to create a softer, more demure attitude.

Tarot: A fashion Film

In this short fashion film directed by Yas Salon & Mia Iannarino, the major arcana tarot cards play a definining role. Drawing inspiration from the archetypal imagery of the tarot cards, the film unfolds as a sequence of evocative vignettes. Each costume serves as a visual representation of the card it represents, allowing the characters to embody the intricate layers of meaning and transformative journeys associated with the tarot.

Within this stunning collection, two unique looks were meticulously designed exclusively for the film, while an additional four looks were thoughtfully curated from previous designs, creating a harmonious fusion of creativity and symbolism.
