Feast of Fancy is a whimsical and sophisticated entry into a couture costume contest, celebrating haute cuisine reimagined through the lens of haute couture. This mini-collection explores an unconventional fusion of fashion and fine dining, transforming gourmet classics into sartorial masterpieces. Each look draws inspiration from an iconic dish—rich crimson hues and luxurious textures evoke Lobster Thermidor, complemented by the zesty brightness of Lemon, the vibrant freshness of Salad Greens, and the sleek, polished allure of a classic Gin Martini. Designed to delight all the senses, this evocative collection invites you to savor fashion in its most playful, indulgent form.
This costume was crafted for an 1890s Halloween party, embodying the persona of a Scottish fortune teller, loosely inspired by a character from a popular newspaper serial of the era. The design offers a glimpse into the imagination and resourcefulness of someone in 1898, envisioning what they might create for a grand fancy dress event. With period-appropriate details and a nod to the mysticism of fortune-telling, this costume reflects the charm and creativity of late Victorian costume culture.
Lemon Chiffon is a burlesque costume design inspired by confections. This design is playful and flirty, featuring layers of pastel chiffon contrasting with a rhinestone-encrusted boddice. But! This costume has a suprise, with just a twirl it transforms from a short and sweet cupcake to an elegant satin ballgown. This design, reflecting the first half of the quick-change costume, was my first experiance designing quick change costumes.
This illustration was designed to promote my Halloween-themed "Design Your Own Poodle Skirt" sewing class. Drawing inspiration from vintage Simplicity pattern envelopes, the artwork blends classic 1950s charm with a spooky twist, featuring fun Halloween motifs like black cats, pumpkins, and bats. It perfectly captures the playful spirit of retro fashion with a seasonal flair, inviting participants to get creative and design their own festive poodle skirts.
This design was created for a historically inspired marching band, drawing inspiration from 1860s military bands. It modernizes the iconic cavalry musician jacket, retaining the classic elements of a traditional band uniform while incorporating contemporary flair. The result is a fresh take on a timeless aesthetic, blending historical accuracy with modern functionality to create a striking and memorable look for today’s performers.
